Understanding Clear Aligners
Clear aligners are a series of thin, custom-made plastic trays. Each set moves your teeth a small step, so they straighten gradually while the trays stay barely visible. They suit many adults and teenagers with mild to moderate crowding or spacing.
Because aligners are removable, you can eat what you like and brush and floss as normal. The trade-off is discipline: aligners only work when they are worn for most of the day.
Is it right for you?
- Mild to moderate crowding
- Small gaps between teeth
- Teeth that moved after earlier braces
- Adults who want a discreet option

Clear Aligners at Our Clinic
Here is what each option involves, so you can come to your consultation knowing what to ask.
Is It Right for You?
Clear aligners suit many cases of crowding and spacing, but not every bite problem. We examine your teeth, gums and bite, take records and tell you honestly whether aligners or braces will give the better result. If aligners are suitable, we show you the planned movement before treatment begins.

Living With Aligners
You wear each set for most of the day, usually 20 to 22 hours, and switch to the next set every one to two weeks. You take them out to eat and to drink anything other than water, then brush before putting them back. With no brackets or wires, there are fewer emergency visits and no food restrictions.

Keeping the Result
When the final aligner is finished, retainers hold your teeth in their new position. Most people wear a clear retainer at night long term. We show you how to care for your retainers and check them at your regular visits.

Questions About Clear Aligners
Are aligners as effective as braces?
For suitable cases, yes. For complex bite problems, braces are often more effective, and we will tell you which suits you.
Do aligners hurt?
You may feel pressure for a day or two with each new set, which shows the teeth are moving.
